George Washington Creef Memorial Park

George Washington Creef
Memorial Park

George Washington Creef Memorial Park, also known as George Washington Creef Park, horrors the memory of George Washington Creef (1829 - 1917).

George Washington Creef was an Outer Banks carpenter and famed boat builder that is credited as being the original designer and builder of the Shad Boat after the Civil War. The Shad Boat contributed significantly to the maritime industry.

The George Washington Creef Memorial Park's shaded manicured lawn is a welcoming location along the waterfront of Manteo, NC. This Park is adjacent to the Roanoke Island Maritime Museum, located inside the George Washington Creef Boathouse. The Park overlooks Shallowbag Bay and allows a view of the Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse.

The George Washington Creef Memorial Park is a pet-friendly location that is an Event and Wedding venue in the Town of Manteo, NC. The street address for this Park is as follows:

George Washington Creef Memorial Park
104 Fernando Street
Manteo, NC 27954

Currently, the Town of Manteo sponsors a weekly waterfront market at George Washington Creef Park on Saturdays through September 2022.

"OBX Map Picture Find" - # 10 Firewheel

OBX Firewheel, Blanketflower,
 Gaillardia pulchella
Firewheel of the Outer Banks creates a lavish display of color thriving in the sandy soil of the OBX. The Firewheel is also known as Indian Blanket Flowers and Gaillardia pulchella. The bloomed Firewheel's dark red, almost burgundy flower petals tipped in a bright yellow are visible for quite a distance.

The Firewheel wildflower can be seen in a plethora of locations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. In addition to the roadsides and dune lines, the Firewheel can be seen in residential and commercial landscaping throughout the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

See the beautiful Firewheels in the landscape at Manteo Town Common in the beginning of this YouTube video by Current TV:  "Manteo Town Common Opening Celebration May 14, 2021."

The Firewheel has also taken on a sentimental relevance in Outer Banks Destination Beach Weddings. In addition, Firewheel is becoming very popular in OBX bridal wedding bouquets and OBX boutineers flowers for the groom and groomsmen.

5 OBX Pet Friendly Lighthouse Wedding Venues

The Outer Banks of North Carolina have been host to thousands of destination beach weddings. Among the many wedding venues, the historical Lighthouses of the Outer Banks stand as faithful beacons guiding couples to a new united life.

Each of the lighthouses on the Outer Banks has its own history and shines its own light. Just as unique as the individual couples that gather at these historical sights to wed.

All five lighthouses on the Outer Banks of North Carolina are pet friendly. In addition, Outer Banks' pet-friendly weddings have had dog ring bearers and many other species of pets attend and participate in wedding ceremonies on the coast of North Carolina.

Below are photographs of each of the five Outer Banks Lighthouses and a related article that does include pet-friendly wedding venue information and contacts. The lighthouses are listed from North to South. Also see Outer Banks Map - Islands, Towns & Villages.
