Paw Prints in the Snow - OBX Winter Storm

Paw Prints in the OBX Snow!
January 21, 2022, brought early closing announcements & crowded shopping to prepare for the winter storm quickly approaching the Outer Banks of NC.

Storms are nothing new to the Outer Banks; most locals already have hurricane prep & supplies at home. But a winter storm is not the same. The number one difference is the weather itself, the Cold. Losing power if it were to happen is not a big deal on the Outer Banks, but it is very different in the winter; firewood was in high demand, stacks were piled high in front of Grocery Stores, Hardware Stores & many more local retailers.

The roads and parking lots on the OBX were the color of white on Friday, the 21st of 2022. But the white on the streets & parking lots were not from Snow; it was Salt, white Salt everywhere, placed by the NCDOT - North Carolina Department of Transportation in anticipation of the coming Snow.

The cold wind and high gust of air whipped through the Outer Banks. The rain started to fall and progress in droplets melting; the Salt laid in preparation for the Snow. But the weather forecast still said Snow. Snow was coming to the Outer Banks; wait.

As the sunset drifted into the dark of night, the rains continued to fall, and many lost hope of seeing Snow. But sometime in the wee morning hours, the rain turned into Snow. A bright white dusting of Snow covered the parked cars and yards all over the Outer Banks.

Pampered Pets going outside this morning found Snow. The paw prints in the Snow were photographed on January 22, 2022, on the OBX. Due to the Outer Banks' unique location, separated from the mainland of North Carolina and the warm Gulf stream winds, the Outer Banks of NC does not see Snow as an annual event. So stay safe, warm & enjoy.

Choices to securely attach Rabies & Other Tags to your Pet's Collar

There are many choices to securely attach your Pet's Rabies & required Tags to their collar.

Currituck County only requires a Rabies Tag.
(1) Tag to attach

Dare County Does Require an Annual Dog License & Rabies Tag.
(2) Tags to attach (provides S hook for attachment)

The Town of Kill Devil Hills requires an Annual Dog License
in addition to Dare County Annual Dog License & Rabies Tag.
(3) Tags to attach (provides attachment ring)

There are three pictured options to attach tags to your pet's collar pictured.

The first ring attachment is a secure way to attach tags to your pet's collar securely, but there is a lot of twisting if you ever need to put your pet's tag on another collar.

The second S ring option is a very secure way to attach tags to your pet's collar but will require pliers and hand strength to attach. In addition, once secured, this attachment is the hardest to un-attach and re-attach if needed.

The third pictured option is an "S-BINDER" MICROLOCK by NITE IZE.
This option, much like the Ring & S Ring, is very secure. However, the S-BINDER does have an advantage due to its construction.

Shaped like the classic S Ring, closures on each side of the S are locked and unlocked in place with a simple twist of the center lock. In addition, the S-BINDER locks dog tags securely in place and transfers quickly with a simple twist. The S-BINDER MICROLOCK easily held three tags, and the tags slid right on; nothing additional was required.

Some dogs will wear out a collar before the end of a year and need a new one. Other dogs have many collars & participate in Pet Events, like "Outer Banks Pet Events." needing collars to be exchanged for dress-up events.

The pictured Stainless (other color options were in-stock)
"S-BINDER" MICROLOCK by NITE IZE was purchased at:

Wright Brothers National Memorial - Waved Entrance Fee on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Wright Brothers National Memorial has announced a Waved Entrance Fee Day in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 17, 2022.

Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 - Assassinated April 4, 1968) was considered the leader of the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. King, a Baptist Minister & Activist, is most famously known for his speech delivered on August 28, 1968, near the Washington Monument, in Washington D.C. A quarter-million people participated in the March on Washington that ended with Martin Luther King, Jr. "I Have a Dream" speech.

Martin Luther King, Jr's message was to lift radical oppression by nonviolent resistance.

Fifteen years later, on November 3, 1983, Martin Luther King, Jr.'s wife Coretta Scott King, stood to the right of President Ronald Reagan as he signed into law Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. This holiday was celebrated each year on King's birthday, January 15.

In 1998 the United States Congress designated Martin Luther King, Jr.'s holiday also a national day of Service & changed the date to the third Tuesday in January each year. "A Day ON" for Service and not a "Day Off."

Wright Brothers National Memorial is pet-friendly. Leashes are not to exceed 6 feet in length at this location. Outer Banks Pet-Friendly Places
