FDA Pet Food Recalls

With Thanksgiving only days away, it is essential to think about food safety, not only for yourself but for your pets as well.

The FDA ( U.S. Food & Drug Administration) keeps an up-to-date website with a cumulative list of all recalls for humans and pets alike; this is important as it allows you to check any food you have in storage for safety.

The following link is to the FDA's animal food recall list. You can easily navigate to the home page to inquire about other searches. The site itself is impressive.
The FDA website would be a great site to bookmark for continued reference.

The FDA website is something to be thankful for, providing food safety information for the whole family. Have a Safe & Happy Thanksgiving. Please Drive Safely on our busy Highways.

Jockey's Ridge State Park

Jockey's Ridge State Park Sign
There are many reasons why millions of people visit Jockey's Ridge State Park. Lots of visitors come to see on of the largest sand dunes on the Atlantic coast; others come for the spectacular views and sunsets from the top of the ridge. The park is 426 acres with a rich diversity of plants and animals, a sound side access to explore the estuarine environment along the Roanoke Sound, and two trails to explore the dune system and maritime forest.
Jockey's Ridge State Park - Dunes

The shifting sands, high winds, and extreme temperatures make Jockey's Ridge State Park resemble a desert, with sand dunes always changing making a visit to the park always different and exciting. North Carolina state law makes exceptions to allow pets in parks as long as they are on a leash no longer than six (6) feet, and the leash is attended at all times. Park staff wants to remind visitors that the sand can be very hot in the warmer months, sometimes 30 degrees hotter than the air temperature, so keep your pets health in mind when visiting the park.

We want all visitors; including pets to enjoy their visit to the park. We hope your visit is safe and memorable. Thank you for helping protect and preserve Jockey's Ridge for future generations.
