Explore the Pet Friendly Beaches of Currituck

Atlantic Wave by Seaside Photography
Currituck Beaches are considered the northernmost part of the Outer Banks of North Carolina's sandy peninsula. The Wild Horses of Corolla run free through the dunes in the communities of Corolla & Carova. The wild Mustangs are thought to be descendants of Shipwreck survivors that happen offshore in the Atlantic centuries ago. The Beaches of Currituck span approximately 20 miles of  Atlantic shoreline.

The Atlantic coastline changes with the tides, creating new views daily. Surf fishing is an active sport on the oceanfront, as well as swimming & surfing. Beachcombing yields shells, beach glass, shark's teeth, and more. The sunrise on the Atlantic Ocean is unforgettable. If you or your Pampered Pet dig any holes in the sand, please remember to fill them back in before you depart the beach. Holes on the beach endanger sea turtles and other wildlife on the oceanfront beaches, as well as people and vehicular traffic on the beach.

Driving on the 4x4 Currituck Beaches is permitted year-round. Parking on the oceanfront will require a beach parking permit in season. For more information and detailed rules for parking and driving on the Currituck Beaches, please see the Currituck County Website

For oceanfront beach access locations listed from South to North to include listings with parking lots, the two listing with restrooms a bathhouse with showers, and the 4x4 beach driving access, please see:

Currituck Beaches are separated from the mainland of Currituck County on the west side of the peninsula by the Currituck Sound. The brackish waters of the Currituck Sound that called duck hunters to this sandy strip for decades also call kayakers,  boaters, fishermen, bird watchers, and more to explore the Currituck Sound. Currituck Beaches are alive with wildlife and nature. The sunsets on the sound side are spectacular. It's not uncommon to see whitetail deer, raccoons, foxes, rabbits, and more roaming the dunes.

Many outside Pet-Friendly Events are Scheduled each year at Historic Corolla Park. Please keep and eye on Outer Banks Pet Events.  Please see: Whalehead's Pet Friendly Heritage.

Also, included in Historic Corolla Park is the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. Please see:

National Cook for your Pet Day! on the OBX! - Carrot Chips

copyright 2021 Seaside Photography

November 1st is National Cook for your Pet Day! Today is the day to cook something special for your Pampered Pet.
Carrot Chips are a great fast treat for the whole family, dogs, and cats too.

You will need two large carrots, a ziplock bag, a cookie sheet, parchment paper, and a half teaspoon of olive or vegetable oil.

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees while you wash and peel your carrots.
Cut your carrots in thin uniformed slices. And put pieces into the ziplock bag.
Measure your olive or vegetable oil and place it in the ziplock bag. Seal the bag and shake to coat your carrot cuttings lightly.

Line your cookie sheet with parchment paper and place your carrot pieces in a single layer to cover the parchment paper. Bake for 18 to 20 minutes until tender. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Carrot chips are a healthy treat for the whole family. Let's get Cooking. Enjoy!
When adding anything new to your Pampered Pets diet always ask your veterinarian's advise.
